I've been making progress on Goodale. I'm adding increases to the front sections so that the sweater will not be as open. I'm also making it a bit lon ger and adding some side shaping. Progress has been slow because I've been sidetracked with knitting this textured cardigan by Rebecca Taylor from Vogue Knitting Fall 2010.
I was fascinated with this pattern the moment I saw it in the magazine's online preview. I love the texture and the unique construction. What's interesting to me is that I'm the one and only person on ravelry who is knitting this garment, and there are only 11 others who have queued it up. I wonder why so few other knitters find it as fascinating as I do.
This is really a simple knit because you just knit a 6 ft x 18" rectangle and sew it up. It's just like knitting a scarf for a very large person. I have to admit that it's getting a bit monotonous, especially since there are a lot of P3tog stitches in the pattern, but I've got about 4 ft. done, so onward I go!

Great update! I hadn't seen Goodale before so I will check that out. That Rebecca Taylor cardigan is interesting too. I think you are one of the few people that could pull it off as you are slim/small boned enough to make it work!
Love both the sweaters you are working on! Both very different. Vogue knitting has some really spectacular designs.
Spent quite a bit of time staring at that Vogue Rebecca Taylor piece. The size kind of put me off. I've been thinking how to make it shorter and less lacy to knit.

I don't think it's really that big. I've been draping it over myself as I go along, and it sort of flows along the body. Mine might be about 1" narrower because my gauge is a bit off, so that might make a difference. Making it shorter would be easy -- you just make a shorter rectangle and change your seaming points so that the back seam is less than 6". The end result is not lacy at all -- just textured.
I love Goodale too and will be so looking forward to your version. You always have such great mods!
I'm looking forward to seeing your other sweater too. I only saw about 4 sweaters in the last VK that I was even remotely interested in, and I have to admit, I didn't like that one at all. But you have a way of re-interpreting things that makes me take a second look :) Can't wait to see this one modeled!

I agree with Robin that you are tall and small-boned and the VK sweater will flatter you in a way it might not on most people. I love that you knit things that are different from the pattern du jour, and make me re-consider things I might not look at a second time.

I love this cardi and I'm making it too! Haven't posted it on Ravelry yet.... I didn't see anyone else knitting it last time I looked, so I'm glad to see the pics of yours!
