WIP

I recently cast on for a variation on Nimbus, a free Berroco pattern. My yarn is di.Ve' Autunno, a really soft single-ply merino yarn. My gauge at 4 stitches/inch is much finer than the pattern's gauge, so I did my own sizing. I also wanted a longer cardigan with side shaping, and I wanted a higher neckline and a wide asymmetric collar. My sleeves will also be longer at about 2/3 length. This is really quite a quick knit, even at worsted gauge. I started it just before Christmas and I'm now doing the sleeves. I had a couple of false starts with the collar in an attempt to get the circumference and the asymmetry exactly to my liking. I think its circumference ended up a smidgen too big so the collar might flare up a tiny bit, but I got tired of fussing with it, so it will stay as it is.

I have a feeling this is going to look really cool. Love the collar and the color. Can't wait to see the finished product!

That looks really beautiful. Can't wait to see the FO pics!

Yeah, I think maybe I just have really short arms. I'm going slow on my second GP, but this time I will definitely shoot for shorter sleeves.

P.S. I enjoyed visiting your neck of the woods. I loved all the cupcake stores and creperies. :-D

Your Nimbus sweater is very pretty! I'm currently trying to put mine together -- can you tell me the best stitch method to attach the collar? Also, how did you do the 1-stitch increases on the last 12 rows of the collar? I did a cable cast on stitch (like I did for the 2-stitch increases on the 1st 16 rows), but don't know if that's what it called for since the pattern didn't specify. Thanks!!

Hi Anonymous #2! I'm doing a different collar than the pattern's version, as you can probably tell from my photo. However, I looked at the pattern, and it just says to "sew cast-on edge of collar to neck edge". I would just use something like the mattress stitch, since I do that with most seams. For the single-stitch increases, I would just do a K-front-and-back on the 2nd stitch from each edge. (I try to avoid doing increases on edge stitches). Hope that helps, and happy finishing!

How lovely! Can't wait to see it finished and modeled :) It's funny, I kinda like it the way it is without sleeves even....

What a beautiful design and the color is so rich. I think you were wise to go with the thinner gauge.

Can't wait to see it all finished!
